Will Smith Returning for MEN IN BLACK 3 in 3D

 
Sony announced "Men in Black 3" will be in 3D and is set to hit theaters May 25, 2012. Will Smith is returning.

"Sony's summer of 2012 will get off to a red-hot start with an incredible new 3D adventure for the Men in Black," said Jeff Blake, Sony's chairman of worldwide marketing and distribution. "We couldn't be more excited that the original filmmaking team responsible for the first two worldwide hits is reuniting for this third installment."

The "Men in Black" franchise has grossed worldwide north of $1 billion collectively.

GODZILLA Will Be Returning to the Big Screen

 

I don't know if I should be happy or not about this news, but Legendary Picturesand Warner Bros. Pictures plan a remake of "Godzilla" according to Variety. I liked the older Godzilla movies, but the "Godzilla" film from 1998 was horrible. This new picture could be good if done right!

Variety reports that Legendary Pictures announced Monday (3/29/10) it had obtained rights to the iconic monster character from Japan's Toho Co., which has overseen more than 25 "Godzilla" films. Toho will release the pic in Japan.

Legendary said it's planning to announce a director shortly. This new "Godzilla" film is expected to his theaters sometime in 2012.....probably summer.

DIE HARD 5 May Film in 2011

 

MTV is reporting that Bruce Willis expects to shoot "Die Hard 5" in 2011. "I think we're going to do a 'Die Hard 5' next year," Willis told MTV.

The project appears to be in the early phases, but Willis does have some ideas about the story and who should be tagged to direct. "It's got to go worldwide," the actor said about the potential plotline. "That would be my contribution to it."

His first choice to direct would be the man who last brought McClane to the big screen. "I would hire Len Wiseman right now," Willis said. A vet of two "Underworld" flicks, Wiseman has not helmed a feature since 2007's "Live Free or Die Hard."

STAR TREK 2 in 3D and TRANSFORMERS 3 in 3D Being Discussed By Paramount Pictures

The New York Times had an interesting article regarding "Avatar's" possible change to the movie industry. Let there be no doubt, I think that it has. The fact that "Star Trek 2" and "Transformers 3" are being discussed as 3D features, it proves my point.

The New York Times reports that Paramount executives have already begun debating whether to shoot the next film in 3-D, even if that increases the cost and production difficulty, according to one person who was briefed on the talks but spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to comment.

On a side note, Paramount has officially announced that "Star Trek 2" will hit theaters June 29, 2012.
