THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN Will Be in Two Parts

 

Summit Entertainment has confirmed that the final "Twilight" installment "Breaking Dawn", will be released in two parts. They are defenitley trying to milk the franchise to the very end. Can you blame them? No one knew who Summit Entertainment was a couple years ago. Bill Condon is expected to direct the final two films. "Breaking Dawn" part one will hit theaters November 2011. The release date for part two has not been announced.

Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Jackson Rathbone, Nikki Reed, Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz will all return.

Neil Patrick Harris Joins Sony's SMURFS: THE MOVIE

 

Deadline | Hollywood is reporting that Neil Patrick Harris will star in the "Smurfs" movie. According to the site, the Raja Gosnell-directed film is a mix of live action and animation, and Harris is the lead live action character. The film is expected to hit theaters July 29, 2011.

The Smurfs secured their place in North American pop culture in 1981, when the Saturday-morning cartoon The Smurfs, produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions in association with SEPP International S.A., aired on NBC from 1981 to 1989. The show became a major success for NBC, spawning spin-off television specials on an almost yearly basis. Taylor Lautner will be STRETCH ARMSTRONG

 
Yahoo! is reporting that Universal Pictures has confirmed that Taylor Lautner star as "Stretch Armstrong", a character based upon a large, gel-filled action figure first introduced in 1976 by Kenner that was later re-issued in the 1990s with a canine sidekick, "Fetch Armstrong".

The "Stretch Armstrong" movie is expected to hit theaters sometime in 2012.

The 1980's TV action gets a reboot with this new version of The A-Team, which shifts the Vietnam vet backstory to a group of Iraq War vets who become mercenaries for hire. Joe Carnahan (Smokin' Aces) directs from a script by G.I. Joe's Skip Woods. Liam Neeson heads up the crew as Hannibal, the brains of the operation, with Bradley Cooper as Face, UFC star Quinton \"Rampage\" Jackson filling in for Mr. T as B.A. Baracus, and District 9's breakout star, Sharlto Copley, inheriting the unhinged role of "Howling Mad" Murdock. Jessica Biel also co-stars.

"The A-Team" hits theaters June 11, 2010.

Faris, Aykroyd and Timberlake May Join "Yogi Bear"

 

Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake are in talks to star in a live-action/CG combination of "Yogi Bear". This would be an adaptation from Warner Bros Pictures. "Yogi Bear" is a classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon.

Jerry Bruckheimer Gains Feature Rights to "World War Robot"

Variety is reporting that movie producer Jerry Bruckheimer has acquired the feature rights to the graphic novel "World War Robot" from IDW Publishing.

Story, penned by Ashley Wood and recounted in war-diary form by participants on both sides, centers on a small band of humans and robots facing off in a battle on Earth, the moon and Mars.

Wood and IDW topper Ted Adams are expected to exec produce.

Deal for the rights closed during Comic-Con last week in San Diego. Bruckheimer, as usual, hasn't commented on the pact.

Russell Crowe Joins "The Next Three Days"

Variety is reporting that Russell Crowe will star in "The Next Three Days," the adaptation of the 2008 French film "Pour Elle" that reunites Lionsgate with its "Crash" director Paul Haggis.

Crowe will play a teacher whose wife is arrested and convicted of a murder she says she did not commit. He comes up with a desperate plan to free her.

Haggis, who wrote the script, will begin production in late September in Pittsburgh.

Haggis told Daily Variety that the drama needed an actor who can thrive as an Everyman who rises when faced with an extraordinary circumstance, and Crowe was his top choice.

Michael Dobbs' "The Lords' Day" Novel Coming to the Big Screen

THR is reporting that "Taken" writer Robert Mark Kamen and "Get Smart" producer Atlas Entertainment are collaborating on "The Lord's Day," an action thriller that's been set up at Sony.

Charles Roven and Steve Alexander will produce the project, which is based on a novel by Michael Dobbs, via their Atlas banner.

"Day" centers on a hostage takeover of Britain's House of Lords by terrorists on the first day of a legislative session. The protagonist is Harry Jones, a member of Parliament who is also a former ranking military officer; when Jones attempts to stop the terrorists, he uncovers a more complex and consequential global conspiracy than anyone could have suspected.

Roven called it "high stakes material" that could turn into a "franchise character-based film." Sam Dickerman and Mark James are overseeing for Sony.
